So, for what it’s worth. RE: Drawer Boxes
Each of the Designers: Vivian Beer, Miles Endo, and yes, even Kyle Huntoon approved our use of the Drawer boxes… on this Monday’s episode. This was behind the scenes, not aired, nor needed did it need to be.
Oh, What Drama, it created !!!
The producers gave ME the choice, Chip Wade had a GREAT idea and I took it. There’s no subterfuge here, and the judging was always as fair as could be!
Also, the drawer inserts that I refer to during judging were steel dividers that were magnetized, and lacquered and allowed division of the internal compartments, dividing socks from shirts for example, those aren’t the drawer boxes.
After the Designers approved my use of the Drawers from on set, it was my still my choice, and the design was better for it, which was ultimately, better for the piece and TV.
If you insist that those are grounds for a cut, maybe you’re just parroting Chip’s own words: “Stealing.” or, maybe you’re the contestants cousin… Maybe, you think Reality TV is the most REAL kind of TV. Either way, we made a decent dresser, and Miles made a decent desk.
This season “cheating” is SO FAR from any of the designer’s vocabularies this season as to be laughable, and a little insulting. We build most of the pieces you’ve seen in 18 build-able hours. Good luck replicating that in “reality.”
Chip Wade and I built a piece many times more complex and larger than either of our competitors entries, with the partial exception of Miles, which was risky, and our piece was judged so! There was always a “Get out of Jail” episode, just like last season, if you did the math, too few contestants for the weeks remaining!
Thank you fellow contestants for supporting me in my time of need.
